Vacancies for a Councillor

A paper-clipped collection of documents, the top one has a profile and some text.

If any one is interested in filling the current vacancies on Dunnington Parish Council you should contact City of York Council and let them know and also confirm that you are prepared to stand for election if necessary.

At or before the closing date City of York Council will inform you of whether there is more than one candidate and if so you will be asked to obtain the signatures of at least ten registered electors in the Parish to support your nomination.

Due to Covid you will then have to wait until at least May at the earliest before an election can be held.

1. There are two vacancies on the above Council caused by RESIGNATIONS.

2. A By Election to fill the vacancy will be held if within 14 days (not counting a Saturday, Sunday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Good Friday or Bank Holiday) from the date below if ten electors for the ward / parish give notice in writing claiming such an election to the Returning Officer.

If an election is requested, a poll cannot currently take place until 6 May 2021 as a result of the Local Government and Police and Crime Commissioner (Coronavirus) (Postponement of Elections and Referendums) (England and Wales) Regulations 2020 and the Coronavirus Act 2020.

3. The address of the Returning Officer is:

West Offices, Station Rise, York. YO1 6GA
